''No," he repeated, his voice booming like thunder. "Your mission is complete. You aren't allowed back to the earth for any reason. Things are meant to happen as they happen. Any further interference from you could have disastrous results. I thought you wanted her to be happy."
"I do." Josie sighed. How could Raphael expect her to leave D.J. and Christian now, when they needed her the most?
Her shoulders itched, and she reached to scratch one of them. Her fingers encountered a substance with the consistency of feathers. With a gasp, Josie twisted her neck to the side. She stared in awe. She had wingsbig, beautiful blue and white wings. They shimmered and sparkled as though they'd been sprinkled with angel dustand no doubt they had. She couldn't stop staring at them.
"You've earned them, Josie," Raphael said. "Now leave the rest of D.J.'s problems to God. You have a date to keep."
Josie tore her gaze away from the new wings. "A date?"
Raphael smiled, obviously thinking her new wings had removed her attention from her daughter's problems. He couldn't be further from the truth. "Yes. You need to go to orientation. Then there will be a new arrival for you to greet. Someone I think you'll be very happy to see."
"Who?"
Raphael shook his head. "Patience is a virtue, dear Josie. We like to have new arrivals attend orientation with a loved one." He turned his head. "And here's your guide."
